Derek Harrison
Area Team Member
Derek’s musical career began as a chorister at Salisbury Cathedral. An Oxford organ scholarship (St Edmund Hall) and FRCO followed. He was counter-tenor soloist with the much-recorded St George’s Canzona. His focus was then on conducting choirs (establishing two chamber choirs and conducting 800+ Hertfordshire singers in major works in the Royal Albert Hall four times). Derek recently left his role as MD of Hertford CS after 40+ years. He was an ABRSM examiner. Now he sings (St Albans cathedral choir), plays the organ (services in various churches and occasional organ recitals). He accompanies a very experienced baritone in recitals of English Song.
