We warmly invite members of the RSCM to a performance of J.S. Bach's St John Passion given by Westminster Cathedral Choir and stellar soloists James Gilchrist and William Thomas on Tuesday 18 March 2025 at 19:30 at Westminster Cathedral. We would like to offer RSCM members the opportunity to purchase their tickets at a discount of 30%.
Bach's setting of the Passion story is a popular staple of the season of Lent, and we are thrilled to welcome some of the very best musicians renowned for their performances of this piece to join us for this devotional performance.
James Gilchrist returns to Westminster Cathedral as the Evangelist. Recognised as ‘the finest Evangelist of his generation’, James is one of the UK’s leading tenors – a prolific and celebrated recitalist and concert soloist, his extensive repertoire embraces works spanning many centuries.
William Thomas also returns to sing Christus. Highlights in his 2024/25 season include his debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich as Colline La bohème; Sparafucile Rigoletto in a return to the English National Opera and his Carnegie Hall debut in Bach's Johannes-Passion with the Orchestra of St Luke's/Bernard Labadie.
These outstanding soloists and our world-famous choir are accompanied by a period Baroque orchestra, and directed by Master of Music, Simon Johnson.
