RSCM statement on Coronavirus

The RSCM is working to ensure that we are responding to the COVID-19 situation at the right time; and with the need to keep everyone safe whilst also continuing to support all those engaged with church music.

It has become clear that, with much regret, we have to cancel all our residential choral courses from now until the end of the summer; we do not think that we will be able to comply with the social distancing requirements which we predict will still be in place in the context of a residential setting. We thank you for your understanding, despite the inevitable disappointment, but look forward to welcoming you to another course in the future – we are already hard at work planning an exciting, enhanced range of courses for next year and beyond. For all those who have booked a place for this summer, we will be in touch shortly to arrange the refunds as appropriate.

We await guidance from the Government to inform our decision about a date for resuming face-to-face activity, but are deferring all RSCM events due to take place between now and 31st July. Depending on the advice that is forthcoming, we may be able to schedule some exam sessions during that period, whilst adhering to the relevant social distancing requirements.

We have also released details of our next big initiative – a special, participative, international celebration of RSCM Music Sunday on 14th June, giving thanks for the contribution of musicians of all kinds to the worshipping life of the church. We need you to take part!
