a different musical input. We have a fine Harrison and Harrison organ, which was restored in 2010, and our robed choir is affiliated to the RSCM. The musical life of the parish includes Sunday services (Choral Eucharist 2/3 Sundays each month, Family & Parade once a month, and Choral Evensong), special services, concerts, and weekly choir practices (currently Thursday evenings). There are about ten weddings and fifteen funerals each year. Remuneration for this post will be negotiable. Director of Music, St Andrew’s, Backwell (North Somerset) St Andrew’s is currently between Rectors, therefore the PCC are seeking to appoint a Director of Music for an initial term of 12 months. This may suit a music student, or someone recently retired. The RSCM-affiliated choir is a good balance of four parts, about 25 people including juniors. We have a strong musical tradition which we are keen to maintain. We sing an SATB anthem at weekly Eucharist, often unaccompanied, and weekly BCP sung Evensong. Our junior choristers follow the “Voice for Life” training scheme. We sing occasional special services, including yearly Choral Evensong at St Mary Redcliffe. Holy days and major festivals have recently included repertoire such as Faure’s Requiem and Stainer’s Crucifixion. Organist/ Choir Director. St Mary
the Virgin, Adderbury, Oxfordshire. St Mary’s is a magnificent parish church situated in the heart of the village with the building dating back to 13th Century and the beautiful Chancel now celebrating its 600 anniversary. We are seeking to appoint a friendly, enthusiastic musician to play the organ/piano for a weekly Sunday 10.30am service at our thriving village church and to train and lead
a small adult robed choir of 12 to 15 singers. Currently the choir sings for one Sunday service per month, and
we have one practice in the preceding week. We use two modern settings
of the communion service, and sing
a short communion motet, frequently using the OUP Flexible Anthem Book. We also sing for an Advent and a ChristmasCarolService. Ourhope
is that the new choir director will expand and develop the choir and
will also recruit children back into
the choir from Christopher Rawlins
C of E primary school. On the first Sunday of the month we have a Family Service accompanied by a minstrel group of electric piano, violins, cello, guitar and flutes. In addition, there are usually about 6 to10 weddings and funerals per year. Our organ is a very fine two manual tracker action
Walker organ, which has been regularly maintained.
