Gary Correll has served in the key role of Treasurer of RSCM America for the past six years. His expertise as a lawyer and his skill with finances have been combined with his passion for church music, and have done much to enable the Board of Directors to take forward the mission of RSCM America.
Philip Davey is well known and widely respected as a teacher, accompanist, recitalist and promoter of concerts in Cornwall, and especially in his capacity as director of music at Truro Methodist Church. He has loyally served as Chair of the RSCM Cornwall Area and is now the committee’s Education and Training Officer.
As one of the foundation members
of the present committee, Tony Davies has worked valiantly for the RSCM as Secretary and then Treasurer of the Swansea and Brecon Area. He is forensic in keeping accounts, meticulously prepares agenda and writes minutes, and gives wise counsel. On his own initiative he edits and publishes an RSCM Area Newsletter. All these are marks of his loyalty and commitment to the RSCM and to church music.
John Dixon has just retired, aged
88, after 23 years as choirmaster at
St Vincent, Praia da Luz, Portugal.
John is an enthusiastic, enabling and welcoming choirmaster, conducting the only traditional church choir in
the Algarve; his chief musical support being his RSCM membership. The choir varies in number but John cheerfully copes with the challenges these fluctuations present and has conducted such items as Fauré’s Requiem and
Karl Jenkins’s The Armed Man.
Hilary Forrest has conscientiously promoted the work of the RSCM Winchester Area, organizing and publicizing successful workshops
and other events, encouraging RSCM membership and education, and for
a period coordinating the work of the local RSCM support group in Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch. This she has combined with her important
part in the music of her own church in Christchurch.
For many years Liz Hill has served the RSCM Lincoln Area Committee as Secretary and Publicity Officer, as well as in the role of Acting Chair. She is a dedicated and tireless worker for local RSCM activities, and a constant cheery presence and welcomer at events.
St Peter Mancroft stands at the very heart of the city of Norwich. There,
as director of music, Jody James
has extended its musical reach to encompass five choirs. There is work with children, a choral scholar programme, and a popular recital series. Her galvanizing influence, flair and professional musical skills enrich this important local church and the wider musical life of Norwich.
Graham Jones directed the music
in St Peter, Formby for 38 years until September 2017 with great skill, dedication and care, establishing a fine musical tradition. For many years he has also been an active member of the RSCM Liverpool and Isle of Man Area Committee which has benefited greatly from his meticulous attention to detail, the support he gives to events, and his initiative in organizing events at his own church.
George Kent has served as Organist
and Choirmaster of Christ Church, Westerly, Rhode lsland since 1956.
Over six decades he has influenced
a remarkably large number of lives,
and made connections with a significant number of church musicians worldwide. He has enjoyed wide respect as an exceptional musician and teacher.
Jerry King’s loyal work for the RSCM straddles two Areas. He is currently Secretary (previously Chair) of RSCM Somerset and serves as YPO for RSCM Bristol and Swindon. Until his wife’s recent ordination, he was the latest in a line of long-serving organists
at St Andrew, Backwell, running one of the largest parish choirs
in Somerset. He is also chairman
of the Bath & Wells Diocesan Choral
Association and is involved in a range of other local musical activities.
For over three decades Steve Maltby has led music in churches in the Parish of Whitby, ably running the choir at St Hilda’s on the West Cliff, and encouraging and nurturing young musicians. He has loyally served the RSCM North & East Yorkshire Area Committee as Secretary and Membership Officer, is an RSCM examiner and has worked as a tutor on courses in the North of England
for some years.
Sue Moore combines her work as secretary to the Church of England’s Liturgical Commission with inspiring work with young singers in the choir
at All Saints, Belvedere, Kent. She is indefatigable in her work on the
RSCM Rochester Area Committee, and previously for the Bexley and District Organists’ and Choirmasters’ Association. Her collaborative style has enabled RSCM and many other organizations
to work together to advance the cause of church music and liturgy.
Christopher Muhley has given considerable service to the RSCM in
St Albans, Hertford & Bedford Area
over 40 years, chairing the committee for the past 17 years, and enabling many of its musical events. The committee has notably pioneered an Area Chamber Choir, now in its ninth year. Having recently retired as director of music
at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School,
he continues to be busy as organist, accompanist and conductor, and to chair the St Albans Cathedral Music Trust.
Dr Keith Murree-Allen has been part
of the musical life of Christ Church Cathedral, Newcastle, New South Wales for 65 years, variously serving as organ scholar, assistant organist, interim director of music, and organist emeritus. He also established the Newcastle Tudor Singers which he directed for over 30 years. He has combined this exceptional service with his medical career as a distinguished respiratory specialist.
