After many years of dedicated work, the Revised English Hymnal was launched at St James Church, Sussex Gardens on Wednesday evening. The evening included an introduction to the contents of the book by singing a selection of items from the Sampler; led by English Hymnal Company chairman, Martin Draper. All the editors were in attendance; the book was sufficiently hot off the press that the launch was literally the first time the editors had held the book in their hands.

The RSCM’s Head of Publishing, Tim Ruffer, is also Hymns Ancient and Modern’s hymn book consultant and has been involved in the project from its inception to its publication.

The Revised English Hymnal includes general hymns; hymns for feasts, seasons and saints’ days; office hymns for the liturgical year; and an enlarged eucharistic section including mass settings.
