RSCM Youth Choir Director
We are recruiting for a new Director for the newly renamed RSCM Youth Choir (formerly the Millennium Youth Choir) from September 2025.
The Youth Choir is an enthusiastic, experienced group of about 30 singers aged 16-23, which meets for short residencies, usually twice a year (Easter and summer). Singers travel to courses and events from across the country, with varied background in church, cathedral and school music-making.
We are looking for a professional choral director who can engage, inspire and challenge the singers, and support their development as singers, musicians and leaders.

How to Apply
Candidates should send a CV and covering letter to recruitment@rscm.com by 5.00pm (GMT) on Friday 28th February. Applications should include the names and contact details for two referees, at least one of which we can contact before interview.
In addition, we ask you to complete the optional RSCM Equality and Diversity Monitoring Form found here.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit a short, unedited, video recording of a rehearsal they have recently taken (c.10 minutes). Ideally, the video would demonstrate work with young adults, but we appreciate that this may not always be possible. Further technical instructions will be given to shortlisted candidates. Online interviews will be arranged during the week beginning 17th March.
The fee for the core work covered by the contract is £3700, including two residential courses (up to eight days in total) and planning and preparation time (about an hour per week on average, but variable through the choir’s year). Additional activities attract additional fees.
The contract is offered on a contract-for-services basis, with the successful candidate remaining responsible for their own tax and National Insurance. The contract will be offered to the successful candidate for an initial twelve-month period, with the intention of extending for a further two years.
Appointment is subject to the right to work in the UK and to RSCM Safer Recruitment processes, including completion of a Confidential Self-Declaration, Enhanced DBS check with barring and appropriate level of safeguarding training.
