Among our new carols for this coming Christmas you will find the newly published The Winter’s Brightening by Donna Deam. This charming carol was a finalist in the 2022 BBC Radio 3 Carol Competition 2022. Niall Campbell’s short and simple poem immediately conjures up a mood of winter, cosiness, warmth, love and hope and is suitable for Christmas or the New Year. The simple tune with some lush harmonies is straight-forward with the melody moving between the voices and finally building to a climax before a gentle ending.
