Summer singing in Salisbury

Singers from as far afield as Cumbria, Newcastle and Florida travelled to Salisbury last weekend to join the RSCM Salisbury Singing Break. The weekend was led by RSCM Director, Hugh Morris, with organ accompaniment provided by David Beeby, Assistant Director of Music at Christchurch Priory. Three services were sung in the inspiring setting of Salisbury Cathedral, with the lovely summer weather only adding to the beauty of the surroundings. The music included Joanna Forbes-L’Estrange’s anthem ‘God the Holy Trinity’, written for RSCM Music Sunday in 2019, Balfour Gardiner’s ‘Evening Hymn’ and canticles by Shephard and Wood. The weekend was a great witness to the power of church music to bring people together in a common purpose.
