Equipped and Inspired: a new RSCM Course for Young Singers
The RSCM was delighted to run a brand new course for young people this May half-term in the Yorkshire town of Beverley.
“The sessions were really interesting, I really liked learning about conducting and writing a psalm chant.” – Beverley Course participant (June 2025)
New for 2025, the RSCM Beverley Course is an opportunity for young singers to come together, learn new music, sing in the beautiful surroundings of Beverley Minster, and connect with other young people.
“It resparked my joy for church music.” – Beverley Course participant (June 2025)
Over four days of activities, skills sessions, rehearsals, and sung services, course attendees engaged with a range of church music skills, from aural perception and writing psalm chants to playing the organ and conducting!
” [I enjoyed] playing the organ. Even though I was nervous, it was great to have the opportunity to play.” – Beverley Course participant (June 2025)
Embedded within the mission and strategy of the RSCM is young people, without whom there is no future for church music or, indeed, for the church as a whole. This brand new course is part of a rollout of new RSCM Education provision and strategy. You can read more about the RSCM Education Strategy here, and explore how you can ‘Learn with Us’ here.
