A Season to Sing Public Launch

We are excited that on Sunday we launch publicly A Season to Sing by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange. So far this choral re-imagining of of Vivaldi’s enduringly popular set of violin concertos, The Four Seasons, has only been available to the co-commissioning choirs some of which have already given performances. Published in the 300th anniversary year of Vivaldi’s most famous work, A Season to Sing enhances the music’s programmatic intent by weaving into the much-loved melodies texts from poetry and the Bible on the subject of spring, summer, autumn and winter into the much-loved melodies. The music is arranged for mixed voices and organ or strings (with optional parts for flute, trumpet and trombone) and can also be performed by SA choirs. As always, Joanna has ensured that the piece is highly accessible to many types of choir.

‘The Four Seasons is the first piece of music I can remember hearing from my childhood. I used to dance around the sitting room to it! I thought a great way to mark its 300th anniversary would be to make it possible for choirs to perform it. Vivaldi’s tunes are so magnificent they deserve to be sung!’ – Joanna Forbes L’Estrange

‘It’s going to run and run, this one….I hope that lots of choirs will take it up and give it the life that it deserves’ – Gareth Malone, choirmaster and broadcaster

‘An absolute joy to sing!’ – member of choir at Sydney Opera House performance, April 2025

‘…a revolutionary reimagination of The Four Seasons, full of innovation, humour and wit’ – Michael Howell, music artist & finalist of The Piano series 2, Channel 4
