We were delighted to welcome John Bell to Salisbury last week to deliver our Annual Lecture. It was an inspiring evening, full of ideas to enhance congregational participation in church music. His suggestions included flexible ways to engage hidden musicians in the congregation and how to introduce new tunes easily, making it approachable and encouraging everyone to join in. The evening was made more accessible with John modelling what he was talking about and with the audience joining in. There was also a social element to the evening, with people able to chat after John’s talk.
