Online Event – RSCM Centenary Launch

The RSCM celebrates a hundred years of providing encouragement, guidance and fellowship as we mark our Centenary in 2027. Join us in this special online Centenary launch event where our archivist, Dr John Henderson, will give the history of the organisation while Hugh Morris, our Director, will talk through all we have planned to acknowledge joyfully reaching this great milestone.
Sir Sydney Nicholson founded the School of English Church Music, the original name of the RSCM before it received a royal charter in 1945, in the Jerusalem Chamber of Westminster Abbey on 6th December 1927. We are therefore marking the start of our Centenary year from 6th December 2026 and would be thrilled if you would join us for this official launch on the nearest Monday.
Through an exciting mix of special events, our usual courses and activities with a Centenary stamp, publications and campaigns, there will be a way for you to get involved, whether as a participant or spectator, in-person or remotely. Come and learn how you can do so while learning fascinating new facts about our history. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions at the end of this talk and we would love for you to join us both for this event and in whatever way best suits you across 2027.
