New Deputy Director – Education and Mission Delivery

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Revd Canon Sal McDougall to the post of Deputy Director (Education and Mission Delivery).

Sal brings with her a lifetime’s experience of the RSCM first as a lay church musician and then as a priest; she also brings a first degree in music, a second degree in theology, and a post-graduate certificate in education. Sal shares both the RSCM’s belief that music is a missionary tool, and its passion to see the church drawn closer to God through music. She has worked in or alongside a very wide variety of contexts – from the smallest parish church with no musicians to large urban churches; from the Highlands of Scotland to the Dorset Coast; from an HTB city centre plant, to the Iona Community, to one of greatest cathedrals in the UK, Lincoln Cathedral.

“I have long been an admirer of the RSCM and the significant contribution it makes to the life of our churches,” Sal says. “I’m thrilled to have been appointed to this role and look forward tremendously to joining a great team of colleagues, working alongside them to support and develop the fantastic work the RSCM is doing”.

Hugh Morris, Director of the RSCM, says: “I am delighted that Sal will be joining our senior management team. She brings with her a wealth of experience, a wide understanding both of church and church music, and a sense of energy, determination and vigour which I am sure will be of great value to the RSCM. We very much look forward to her starting work in June”.

This appointment is made in accordance with our Safer Recruitment process.
