Educating, Empowering and Enriching the Musicians of the Future
The Royal School of Church Music, RSCM, is increasingly active as a relevant presence and expert voice at all levels – from connections with national church bodies and large, prestigious cathedrals right down to the smallest, local parish and church communities.
We want to ensure that the core mission of the RSCM – to provide education and training is delivered consistently.
In line with this we are delighted to announce the launch of our brand-new, coherent plan which will offers relevant tuition and skills development to help the church further its own mission and to support the church’s musicians and worship leaders.
Materials in development to support the church’s musicians and worship leaders include:
Schools / How to make effective use of your parish church / Unlocking the code — first steps to understanding printed music
Choral / Introducing new repertoire to your choir / Conducting / Choir recruitment and retention
Instrumental / Hymns for instrumental groups / Ensemble and rehearsing skills
Congregational / ‘We know what we like and we like what we know’ — why is that not enough? / A guide to introducing new material successfully / Masses for the people
Ministerial / Wise, confident hymn choosing / Singing parts of the service
Organ / Which voluntaries to learn and when to play them / How to talk to your clergy, and to work creatively with them
