Summer Singing Day by the Sea
Bring your young singers to enjoy a fun-filled summer’s day by the sea in beautiful Swanage while exploring a range of inspiring church music.
You can look forward to a summer fete atmosphere, with outdoor activities and ice cream alongside exciting singing sessions, with the option to join others for fish and chips on the beach after the event.
Led by Simon Lole, composer and former Director of Music at Salisbury Cathedral, along with Sarah King, RSCM Deputy Director for Education, the day is for:
- • children in school years 3–11 who are already singing in a church or school choir or are interested in doing so
- • their choir leaders and teachers
- • anyone interested in how to grow and motivate a choir of children and young people
Alongside sessions introducing young singers to attractive music old and new, including pieces by Simon himself, there will be presentations for adult observers on:
- • relevant sources of music from the RSCM to keep your young singers engaged, motivated and developing
- • ‘Hymnpact!’ resources for use in schools and church
- • the RSCM Young Voices Toolkit, providing resources supporting those growing young choirs
- • ‘The Choir Project’, a major new partnership between the RSCM and the Church of England to grow 200 new church choirs involving children

Please note: Under 18s will stay on site and will need to bring a packed lunch for lunch break between 1–1.30pm. Adults will break until 2pm, and can either bring a packed lunch or find lunch in Swanage (5-mins to town centre). Parental/Guardian consent forms will be sent out in advance of the day; completed forms to be handed in on registraiton on the day.
