Exciting new musical commission.

As part of its upcoming 2027 Centenary, the RSCM is proud to present a major new commission; a 40-minute choral work by acclaimed composer Thomas Hewitt Jones.

The RSCM is inviting choirs to join us and celebrate 100 years of the RSCM by becoming a co-commissioning choir for Songs of the Spirit.

Deliberately designed with flexibility in mind, Songs of the Spirit will suit a wide range of choirs and contexts. Written for SATB, the work will include adaptable scoring options for different forces, and will culminate in a rousing, hymn-like final movement with optional audience participation.

Commissioning a work of this scale is usually beyond the reach of many choirs. As a co-commissioning choir, however, you will receive exclusive performance rights during the first year, along with several additional benefits.

To join as a commissioning choir, you will need to pledge a donation of £300.

The closing date for joining is 31st March 2026, with donations requested during the following month. The piece will be available from September 2026.
