Biography: Rebecca Tavener

Rebecca Tavener (soprano) co-founded (with her husband, Alan Tavener) the professional vocal ensemble Cappella Nova, specialising in early and contemporary music, and is founder/director of the medieval ensemble Canty. ‘Consecration’, the fourth in Cappella Nova’s series of recordings dedicated to the sacred music of Sir James MacMillan, will be released in November 2021 on the Linn Records label.

Also with Alan, she co-founded the Schola Cantorum of St Columbkille’s RC Church, Rutherglen. She also teaches singing and speech and is Early Music Editor of Choir & Organ Magazine.

Rebecca is part of the Outreach Team of Cappella Nova. Through the delivery of singing workshops and Classes, Cappella Nova Outreach is becoming increasingly familiar to those who simply want to enjoy the experience of group-singing and to develop their skills and knowledge of music, from complete beginners upwards.
