The Director’s Challenge – He did it!!

A massive congratulations from the whole Team to Hugh Morris for completing his marathon 25-hours of organ playing last weekend! He played a huge range of organ pieces and countless hymns.

He and the whole RSCM are grateful to all those who supported this mammoth task, especially the guest organists and choirs and those who tuned in to the YouTube Stream and kept up the encouraging comments in the chat. Thanks also go to Viscount Organs for hosting the event and Hymns Ancient & Modern for their support.

Hugh was pleased to be able to actively contribute to Play the Organ Year himself, and enjoyed joining with all those who signed up for Hands on with Handel. We’ve so far heard about organists giving recitals as well as holding open console sessions. Keep sending us news of your events.

This was also a fundraising challenge and we give collective thanks to those who have already donated and/or sponsored a hymn. There is still time to contribute to the challenge which you can do by following the link in the next line.

You can read Hugh’s reflections on the experience HERE and we give the final words to him;

“Would I do it again? Maybe. Any time soon? No! Was it worth it? Definitely. Not least because a significant underpinning of it was to raise funds to support our work with young people…” – Hugh Morris
