The Director’s Challenge starts tomorrow!
RSCM’s Director, Hugh Morris writes:
“I am looking forward – I think – to the challenge of playing the organ for 25 hours on Friday/Saturday. Thank you for all your support (not too late to sponsor a hymn or make a donation!) I have never attempted anything like it before, but am doing so to raise funds for our work with young people – we have so many plans we are excited to be developing. Whilst not regularly part of my day job, I remain a practising organist, and so this seemed to be something I could do in Play the Organ Year to highlight the need to get more people to learn the King of Instruments. I am delighted that there are people all over the world who are going to join me in getting their Hands on with Handel; good luck to you all! People have asked me what training and preparation I have put in. Aside from doing some practice when I can, I am hoping that the long years of practice, drinking a bit too much tea and coffee and eating more biscuits than is good for me will provide a helpful source of support in the wee small hours. Don’t forget to tune in on our YouTube channel to see how I am getting on!”
