Director of Scottish Voices

We are recruiting for a new Director for RSCM Scottish Voices from August 2026.

Scottish Voices is an enthusiastic group of adult singers who gather for single-day events in churches and cathedrals across Scotland (and occasionally further afield), generally on Saturdays. Members are mostly singers in local church choirs, of a variety of denominations, who are looking to expand their personal repertoire and sing under the direction of excellent musicians in the company of other experienced choral singers.

We are looking for a professional choral director who can engage, inspire and challenge the singers, and support their development as singers and musicians.

At least one of the referees should be someone for whom you have done relevant work recently and at least one of the referees should have known you for at least three years.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit a short, unedited, video recording of a rehearsal they have recently taken (c.10 minutes) with a group of amateur adult singers. Further technical instructions will be given to shortlisted candidates. Online interviews will be arranged during the week beginning 9th February.

The fee for the core work covered by the contract is up to £2640, including eight single-day events and planning and preparation time. Additional activities attract additional fees.
